iPad is not charging after plugged in and complete battery down? How to check? [Solved]

Yesterday my daughter played on the iPad for a long time and only stopped when charging is completely finished. My wife didn't know about it and she tried to start the iPad by pressing the power button only to find that there is no battery charging remaining. She put the iPad on charge but even after a long time it wasn't charging. I told my wife to check if the charger is plugged properly, but she keep saying to me that she always sees the charging sign as shown below and assumes that the charger is plugged properly.

iPad is not charging even after plugged

She was wrong, this sign actually means that your iPad needs immediate charging, it doesn't mean it is charging. To be honest, it's really confusing if you are used to seeing the lightning sign on the battery when your iPad is working. When there is no battery remaining you won't see that familiar sign instead you will just see the black screen even if your charger is plugged properly and working fine, as shown below:

In our case, I found that the charger was not plugged properly but every time you press the power button on the iPad it shows the sign shown in the first screenshot makes my wife believe that iPad is not charging even though the charger is plugged properly. So if you see the below lighting sign next time when your iPad battery is completely drained it means the charger is not plugged properly and your iPad or iPad Air needs immediate charging.

That's all about how to charge the iPad properly when the battery is completely down. Look in most of the cases your iPad and charger is alright it's just that they are not plugged properly, especially if you are using Adapters e.g. you have bought an iPad in the USA and go the charger with a rectangular plug but using it in India where the plug is circular with Adapter, you see that either Adapter is not plugged properly or charger is not plugged properly inside Adapter.

Now the question comes how do you check if your iPad is really charging when there is no battery and all you see is the black screen? Well, if you don't see the plus sign shown in the picture it means your iPad is charging fine.

After some time when the iPad is charged enough, you will see the familiar Apple sign coming up and your iPad is started successfully. Thereafter you can see the charging battery sign on the top right corner as shown below:

That's all folks, So if you see your iPad is not charging even after plugged then please check your Adapter or Charger plug, most likely they are not plugged properly. The technique and solution shown in this guide are also applicable to iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPhone 5, 5S, 6, and 6S.
